Koke renews with Atlético until 2027

Atlético de Madrid captain Koke Resurrección has committed his future to the club, signing a contract extension that will keep him at the Wanda Metropolitano until June 30, 2027. The announcement was made by the club on Wednesday.

Koke, who holds the record for the most appearances in Atlético's history with 740 matches, continues to be a vital player for coach Diego Simeone. Last season, the 34-year-old midfielder was a key figure, participating in 56 games. Since his debut on September 19, 2009, he has scored 50 goals and provided 121 assists.

Beyond his individual statistics, Koke is one of Atlético de Madrid's most decorated players. He has been instrumental in the club winning eight major titles: two La Liga championships, one Copa del Rey, two Europa League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, and one Supercopa de España. His trophy haul places him second only to Adelardo, who won ten titles with the club.

As the only current player who has been with Atlético since Simeone's arrival, Koke represents a significant link to the club's successful era under the Argentine coach. Simeone is set to begin his fifteenth season in charge of the Madrid-based team. The club has also recently secured the signing of left-back Alejandro Grimaldo, who agreed to a contract until June 30, 2030.
