Konak Continues Demolishing Derelict Buildings That Threaten Public Safety

Konak Municipality has demolished another derelict building in Yenidoğan neighborhood as part of an ongoing campaign targeting structures considered threats to public safety and the district’s appearance.

The latest demolition brought the number of abandoned buildings removed since April 2024 to 384. The municipality said the work continues in different neighborhoods to prevent potential hazards and improve the urban fabric.

Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu said the municipality would keep carrying out demolitions. “Since the day we took office, we have made our neighborhoods more livable by demolishing 384 derelict structures,” she said. “We will continue working until we completely eliminate the structures that damage our district’s appearance and pose a safety risk.”
