Kookmin University solar car team exchanges technology with Hyundai Motor

Kookmin University's solar car team, KUST, engaged in a crucial technical exchange with Hyundai Motor's Fuel Cell System Design Team 2 on August 7. The meeting, held at the university, aimed to secure expert advice for KUST's preparation for the prestigious World Solar Challenge, scheduled for summer 2027 in Australia.

The World Solar Challenge is a demanding international competition where university teams navigate approximately 3,000 kilometers across the Australian continent using solar-powered vehicles. It serves as a platform for teams worldwide to showcase their expertise in vehicle design, manufacturing, and energy management.

During the session, KUST students presented their current vehicle design concepts and key technical components to the Hyundai Motor team. The Hyundai engineers, drawing from their extensive industry experience, reviewed the designs and offered valuable technical insights and recommendations for the development process. Hyundai Motor has committed to continuing its technical advisory role throughout KUST's vehicle development and competition preparation.

This collaboration aligns with Kookmin University's strategic focus on mobility, designated as one of its eight specialized fields for its 80th anniversary. The university is actively enhancing education, research, and industry-academia cooperation in automotive engineering, software, and design. KUST's participation in international competitions and industry exchanges is a key component of this initiative, providing students with hands-on experience in vehicle design, manufacturing, and energy management.
