Korea Food Industry Association Attends International Conference on AI in Food Systems

The Korea Food Industry Association (KFIA) recently attended the "2026 Korean Society of Food Preservation and Distribution 47th International Academic Conference and General Meeting." Held from July 22 to 24 at HICO in Gyeongju, the conference centered on the theme "Future Food Systems: AI-Driven Innovation Across the Value Chain."

At the opening ceremony on July 22, KFIA Vice Chairman Jeong Yong-ik delivered congratulatory remarks. He celebrated the conference's convening and expressed hope that the academic achievements in food preservation and distribution would bolster the competitiveness of the domestic food industry.

The conference is the largest international academic event in the fields of food preservation, processing, and distribution, hosted annually by the Korean Society of Food Preservation and Distribution since its establishment in 1992. This year's event focused on discussing strategies for utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology across the entire food value chain, addressing challenges posed by climate change and global supply chain shifts.

Keynote lectures were delivered by Kim Deok-ho, Director of the Korea Food Cluster Promotion Agency, and Vincent Martin, Director from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The conference also included five international sessions, 28 academic sessions, approximately 300 poster presentations, and 35 exhibition booths, fostering extensive discussion and knowledge sharing among experts.
