Korea University achieves highest-ever ranking in THE World University Impact Rankings

Korea University has achieved its best-ever performance in the '2026 THE World University Impact Rankings,' released by the British higher education analytics firm Times Higher Education (THE). The university secured the 12th position globally, a significant leap from its 71st place last year.

The THE Impact Rankings evaluate universities based on their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year's assessment included 1,603 universities worldwide, measuring their performance across education, research, social contribution, and governance in relation to the SDGs.

Notably, Korea University retained its top global ranking in 'SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth' for the second consecutive year. This category assesses universities' efforts in providing quality employment, fostering entrepreneurship, improving labor conditions, and contributing to the local economy. The university attributes this success to its systematic internship programs and the creation of a robust employment and startup ecosystem.

Beyond SDG 8, Korea University also demonstrated strong performance in other key areas. It ranked third globally in 'SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production' and secured 19th place in 'SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.' These rankings highlight the university's comprehensive approach to sustainability and its role in driving innovation.

Korea University officials stated that these international recognitions are a testament to the innovative efforts of its entire university community.
