Korea University Hosts 2,000 International Students for 6-Week Summer Program

Korea University celebrated the conclusion of its 2026 International Summer Campus (ISC), a six-week program that brought together approximately 2,000 students from 400 universities in 50 countries. The closing ceremony was held on August 6th at the Inchon Memorial Hall in Seoul.

This year's ISC offered over 90 courses in fields such as media, humanities, artificial intelligence (AI), and business. Students not only attended classes but also immersed themselves in Korean society and culture. Excursions included visits to Lotte World, the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the MBC studio in Ilsan, and a professional baseball game. Various cultural programs, including Taekwondo, Nanta, and K-pop dance, were also offered.

Jason Rentfrow, a psychology professor from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University, delivered the commencement address. He noted that students from diverse backgrounds created shared experiences through learning and communication, emphasizing the lasting value of the relationships and community spirit formed during their time at Korea University.

Students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse goals have come together at Korea University to learn and communicate both inside and outside the classroom, creating shared experiences. The relationships formed and the sense of community developed here will be a valuable asset for their future lives and happiness.

Student representative Victoria Elizabeth Crooks from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, shared her journey, stating, "A dream that started with cultural interests like K-pop and Korean food became a reality through participating in Korea University's ISC." She highlighted gaining confidence and unforgettable memories from visiting sites like the DMZ and experiencing daily life in Seoul.

Korea University also used the event to showcase its academic achievements, mentioning its record-high 52nd position in the QS World University Rankings, underscoring the competitiveness of its internationalization programs. The university announced it will host its International Winter Campus starting December 22nd, with applications opening September 1st.
