Korea University's Graduate School of Future Education to Recruit for 'Art and Life Master Class' 3rd Term

Korea University's Graduate School of Future Education is launching its third "Art and Life Master Class," a program designed to help participants understand contemporary societal shifts through the lens of art and lifestyle. The 14-week course will run from September to December at the university's Seoul campus.

The curriculum centers on contemporary art, integrating it with diverse fields such as architecture, interior design, fashion, gastronomy, branding, and psychology. This approach aims to provide a holistic understanding of cultural and social changes, rather than treating each discipline in isolation.

Leading the lectures are notable figures including futurist writer Song Gil-young, cognitive psychologist Kim Kyung-il, and Trend Korea Company CEO Jeon Mi-young. They will discuss topics like the impact of AI on society, human cognition, and evolving consumer trends. The faculty also includes architect Seung Hyo-sang, artist Ha Tae-im, professor Kim Jae-yong, and branding expert Park Jung-ae.

This year's program introduces new segments on trend and brand strategy, with Jeon Mi-young and Park Jung-ae leading these sessions. The contemporary art component will feature artist sessions, allowing participants to directly engage with the works and perspectives of artists like Ha Tae-im.

Beyond the classroom, the program offers enhanced experiential learning. Participants can join museum exhibition tours and chef's dining experiences, complemented by new field programs in fashion and gastronomy. These include art history lectures with Professor Lee Su-jin and styling classes with stylist Han Hye-yeon, exploring fashion flagship stores. The gastronomy program features a special dinner with Chef Jung Ji-sun at her restaurant 'Tien Mimi,' including an interview with the chef about her culinary philosophy.

Past participants have reported broadened perspectives on their daily lives and work, noting a newfound ability to see familiar things in a new light. Moon Jung-bin, Dean of Korea University's Graduate School of Future Education, emphasized the growing importance of insight into people, society, and culture in an era of rapid AI advancement. The university plans to continue expanding its offerings in art and cultural education.
