Kos: Minor dead after jet ski overturns in Bodrum

A tragic incident involving a jet ski off the coast of Bodrum, Turkey, has resulted in the death of a minor and the disappearance of two adults. The Greek Coast Guard was involved in the search and rescue operations after a request for assistance from Turkish authorities.

Early on Wednesday afternoon, the Hellenic Coast Guard's Search and Rescue Coordination Center received a call from its Turkish counterpart requesting help in locating three individuals. The jet ski they were on had overturned near the Turkish coast.

Search efforts were immediately launched by both Greek and Turkish authorities. A vessel from the Hellenic Coast Guard eventually recovered a minor, whose age and identity are currently unknown, floating unconscious northeast of Kos, within Greek territorial waters.

The minor was transported to the General Hospital of Kos, where she was pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination has been ordered. Meanwhile, the search continues for the two adults who were on the jet ski with the child. A Hellenic Coast Guard vessel and an Air Force helicopter are participating in the Greek search operations amid winds of force 5 Beaufort in the area.
