Kosovo Police Conduct Searches in Prevlak and Jabuka Amidst Illegal Weapons Operation

Kosovo police are currently carrying out searches in the villages of Prevlak and Jabuka, located in the Ibarski Kolašin region. Veton Eljšani, the deputy commander of the Kosovo Police for the North region, confirmed to the portal Kossev that the operation is focused on "combating illegal weapons possession."

Initial reports indicate that at least three houses have been searched as part of this ongoing police action. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any weapons or other related items have been discovered during the searches, as the operation is still in progress. There is no information yet regarding any potential arrests.

The Ibarski Kolašin area has been the site of multiple police and judicial actions in recent weeks. Several Serbs from northern Kosovo have been detained and questioned, and three individuals were arrested in Zubin Potok on suspicion of war crimes against civilians, with one month's detention ordered. Police also conducted a search in Crepulja on August 7.

In parallel with these security operations, the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo is investigating individuals missing from the 1999 war in the Ibarski Kolašin region. Investigations and exhumations began in Mala Kaludra and expanded to Jabuka, where authorities reported finding the remains of at least four individuals. These remains have been sent for forensic and DNA analysis. The Special Prosecutor's Office also confirmed the presence of remains at a third location in Zubin Potok, separate from the current weapons operation.
