Kosovo police continue searches in Ibarski Kolašin, six questioned

Kosovo police have continued their multi-day operation in the Ibarski Kolašin region, conducting searches in the villages of Brnjak and Strmac. The operation, focused on the search for illegal weapons, has led to six individuals being questioned. Vetton Eljšani, deputy commander of the Kosovo Police for the North region, confirmed that the current activities are a continuation of the ongoing search for illicit arms.

Searches were carried out in Brnjak and Strmac on the day of the report, with police acknowledging seizures but withholding details about the specific items found. Eljšani stated that the six individuals are undergoing questioning, and the process will follow regular procedures. He added that the police are not yet releasing a final tally of the operation, which includes the total number of locations searched, items seized, and individuals involved.

Previous police activities in recent days have taken place in villages such as Prevlaka, Jabuka, Crepulja, Dren, and Brnjak within the Zubin Potok municipality. During one earlier search in Dren, a Kalashnikov rifle was discovered. Those questioned at that time were also expected to be processed through the standard legal procedure, according to Eljšani.

It remains unclear when the police will release consolidated results from this extensive, multi-day operation. The focus on illegal weapons in a region with a history of ethnic tensions highlights the ongoing security concerns in northern Kosovo.
