KotaSAS, Maxis partner to develop smart city in Pahang

KotaSAS Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Tanah Makmur Berhad (TMB), and Maxis Berhad have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating the development of KotaSAS into a smart city. This partnership will see Maxis providing comprehensive connectivity and digital solutions to support the ambitious digital transformation of the new township in Pahang, Malaysia.

Positioned as TMB's flagship mixed-development project in Pahang, KotaSAS is envisioned to become Kuantan's new Central Business District and a modern administrative hub for the state. Over the next decade, the development will unfold in phases, strategically leveraging key regional infrastructure, including the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), to establish itself as a significant economic hub.

The KotaSAS master plan prioritizes a smart and sustainable lifestyle to improve residents' quality of life and meet business demands. Maxis will lay the groundwork by deploying essential infrastructure, including a high-speed fiber optic network to over 4,000 new premises and comprehensive mobile coverage. The initiative also includes implementing various smart city technologies such as digital billboards, smart street lighting, solar systems, smart energy meters, and intelligent traffic signals to optimize energy use, enhance public safety, and improve urban living.
