Kou Island Ferry's First Ever Departure from Xinyuan Yanpu Port; Ticketing Still at Donggang

For the first time in the history of the popular Kou Island ferry route, operations have shifted to a different port. Tourists heading to the island on the last weekend of summer vacation encountered a change as all private ferry operators began departing from Xinyuan Yanpu Port.

This temporary relocation is a direct result of siltation issues affecting the usual departure point at the mouth of the Donggang River. The accumulation of silt has made the Donggang Port inaccessible for the ferries, necessitating the move to Xinyuan Yanpu Port.

Despite the change in departure location, passengers will still need to go to Donggang Port to purchase their tickets. This dual-location arrangement aims to accommodate the ongoing demand for travel to Kou Island while addressing the navigational challenges posed by the river's condition.
