KPK Arrests One in Jakarta in West Lombok Sting Operation

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has apprehended a suspect in Jakarta, expanding its ongoing sting operation in West Lombok. This arrest brings the total number of individuals detained in connection with the operation to eight. The KPK confirmed that the individual arrested in Jakarta is from the private sector.

Among those detained is the Regent of West Lombok, Lalu Ahmad Zaini, who was among seven people initially apprehended in West Lombok and brought to Jakarta. The KPK stated that all eight individuals are currently undergoing examination. The operation, which began on Monday, July 20, 2026, also resulted in the seizure of hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash and various documents.

Sources suggest that the case involves alleged corruption related to projects within the West Lombok regional government. However, the KPK has not yet fully disclosed the details of the alleged corruption scheme. Following the operation, KPK investigators sealed the offices of the West Lombok Regent and the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Housing Agency (PUPRPKP).

The West Lombok regional government has not yet issued a statement regarding the arrests or the sealing of its offices. The investigation is ongoing, with the KPK expected to reveal more details about the alleged corruption in the coming days.
