KPK Denies Criminalization Claims in Case Against Former Special Crimes Chief

The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has refuted claims of criminalization surrounding the investigation into former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Ardiansyah. Ardiansyah faces allegations of corruption and money laundering.

Ely Kusumastuti, the KPK's Deputy for Coordination and Supervision, asserted that investigators at the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) conducted their duties professionally. She stated that the KPK did not observe any signs of criminalization during its oversight of the case, which is also being monitored by other law enforcement bodies and the Inspectorate General of the Attorney General's Office.

We don't see any criminalization during the KPK's oversight of this case.

KPK confirmed it has received a request from the Attorney General's Office to detain Ardiansyah at its detention center for 20 days, a process they maintain followed proper procedures. This detention follows Ardiansyah's designation as a suspect by Kejagung investigators.

So in my opinion, this is not enough to be detained. It has never been like this at Gedung Bundar [Attorney General's Office], it has never been like this at Gedung Bundar.

However, Ardiansyah himself believes he is a victim of criminalization. He reportedly discussed with investigators that the evidence presented was insufficient for detention and that further investigation and repeated exposure sessions should have preceded his arrest. Ardiansyah expressed his willingness to face the situation, reiterating his feeling of being unjustly targeted.
