KPK Finds S$8,500 in South Jakarta Immigration Office Head's Room

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized S$8,500 in Singapore dollars during a raid on the South Jakarta Immigration Office. The discovery is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged extortion and gratification related to foreign resident permits between 2022 and 2026.

The KPK conducted searches at both the South Jakarta and Central Jakarta Immigration Offices on Tuesday. In South Jakarta, investigators found the cash in the office of the Head of the Immigration Office. A KPK spokesperson confirmed the seizure, stating the money would be further investigated for its connection to the case.

Searches at the Central Jakarta Immigration Office yielded documents and electronic evidence potentially linked to the ongoing investigation. The KPK has previously searched offices in Bali and the Denpasar Immigration Office as part of the same probe. The commission has named eight individuals as suspects in this case, including former officials and current staff involved in processing resident permits.

Those named include former Deputy Minister of Immigration Silmy Karim, Acting Director General of Immigration Saffar Muhammad Godam, and other directors and heads of divisions. They are accused of violating anti-corruption laws related to extortion and accepting gratuities. The case initially came to light through a sting operation in early June 2026, which led to the arrest of 18 people.
