KPK: Importers Bought Cars for Customs Officials' Operations

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is probing allegations that import businesses provided operational vehicles to officials within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The investigation centers on the purported provision of these vehicles by import entrepreneurs affiliated with PT Blueray Cargo Group.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that investigators are delving into the motive behind these vehicle provisions, suspecting them to be a form of gratification. "We are examining the findings by questioning one of the witnesses from the import entrepreneur side regarding the provision of vehicle facilities to parties in the Directorate General of Customs and Excise," Budi told reporters on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Investigators had scheduled examinations for six witnesses on that day, including four customs officials from Semarang and two import entrepreneurs. Budi indicated that the vehicles provided by the import entrepreneurs are believed to have been used for the operational needs of individuals already designated as suspects by the KPK. This differs from vehicles previously seized during searches of customs offices.

In the ongoing bribery case concerning imports at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, the KPK has identified six initial suspects. These include former Director of Enforcement and Investigation Rizal, Head of Sub-Directorate of Intelligence Enforcement and Investigation Sisprian Subiaksono, Head of Intelligence Section Orlando Hamonangan, Blueray Cargo owner John Field, Head of Blueray Cargo Import Documentation Team Andri, and Blueray Cargo Operations Manager Dedy Kurniawan. As the investigation progresses, the KPK also named Head of Customs Intelligence Enforcement and Investigation Section Budiman Bayu Prasojo as a suspect. He was apprehended at the Customs headquarters in Jakarta on February 26, 2026.

The KPK estimates that the total flow of funds in this bribery case amounts to approximately Rp 61.3 billion in Singapore dollars. Beyond monetary transactions, investigators also uncovered entertainment facilities valued at Rp 1.45 billion, a Tag Heuer watch worth Rp 65 million, and a Mazda CX-5 car valued at Rp 330 million. The suspects are believed to have offered these bribes to facilitate the import process and avoid red-lane inspections at customs.
