KPK: No urgent need for intensive coordination with Attorney General's Office on MBG case

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated it does not yet see a critical need for intensive coordination with the Attorney General's Office regarding the MBG corruption case. KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto explained that the agency believes the Attorney General's Office is handling the investigation appropriately.

"Perhaps because it's still new, many examination activities are being taken seriously, while indeed there has been no direct involvement," Setyo Budiyanto said Wednesday at the parliamentary complex in Senayan. He added that the KPK views the Attorney General's Office as conducting law enforcement through its special criminal investigators, thus not creating an urgent necessity for further synchronization.

"Of course, if they have carried out coercive measures, there are arrests, searches, seizures, and so on, and then there are activities carried out by investigators from the Attorney General's Office, especially from Special Crimes, then we are currently seeing that it is already running. So, perhaps it's not too important for us to coordinate," he stated.

Setyo also noted the case's progression within the Attorney General's Office. He believes the legal steps already taken provide investigators ample opportunity to delve into the entire case construction. "With the coercive measures, the Special Crimes investigators will certainly be free to dissect the entire case," he said.
