KPK Secures Hundreds of Millions of Rupiah in University Rector Corruption Bust

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of Indonesia has secured hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash as evidence following a sting operation (OTT) that targeted officials within the rectorate of Jenderal Soedirman University in Purwokerto, Central Java. The operation led to the arrest of a total of 14 individuals.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that the seized evidence includes a significant amount of cash, though further details on other confiscated items have not yet been released. Among those apprehended is the Rector of Jenderal Soedirman University, Prof. Akhmad Sodiq. The arrests were made across two locations, with 12 individuals detained in Purwokerto and two in Jakarta.

Those arrested in Jakarta were immediately taken to the KPK's Red and White Building for intensive questioning. The 12 individuals detained in Purwokerto underwent initial questioning at the Banyumas Resort Police before being transferred to Jakarta. Currently, nine individuals are undergoing further questioning at the KPK headquarters as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption.

The KPK's operation underscores its continued efforts to combat corruption within Indonesia's higher education institutions. The investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the alleged corrupt practices and bring those involved to justice.
