KPK summons ex-MPR Secretary-General Ma'ruf Cahyono again as suspect

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned former Secretary-General of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ma'ruf Cahyono, for further questioning. Cahyono is being investigated as a suspect in a case involving alleged gratification linked to the procurement of goods and services during his term from 2019 to 2021.

The KPK confirmed that the examination is taking place at their headquarters in Jakarta. This summons marks a continuation of the investigation, as Cahyono had previously been questioned in his capacity as a suspect on June 25. During that earlier session, Cahyono stated that investigators had primarily focused on his duties as Secretary-General rather than the specific alleged criminal acts.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo indicated that the current examination aims to further solidify and confirm evidence already gathered by investigators. The focus is on the procurement processes within the MPR and the alleged monetary gains received by Cahyono. Prasetyo explained that detention has not yet occurred as the investigation requires further evidence collection to build a strong case before proceeding to the prosecution stage.

During the investigation, the KPK has also interviewed Cahyono's family members, including his daughter Nurani Arimbi Cahyono, his other daughter Nurma Indah Cahyono, and his mother Djuwariyah. Ma'ruf Cahyono was officially named a suspect by the KPK on July 3, 2025, and was subject to a travel ban for six months from June 10 to December 10, 2025.
