KR takes three points in eight-goal thriller

KR secured a thrilling 5-3 victory over ÍA in a dramatic eight-goal encounter in the Besta deild karla men's football league. The match, played at Meistaravellir in Vesturbænum, saw KR consolidate their position at the top of the league.

With this win, KR now holds 28 points, placing them second in the standings, six points behind the reigning champions Víkingur. ÍA remains in sixth place with 15 points. The game was a back-and-forth affair from the start, with ÍA taking an early lead in the 12th minute through Ísak Máni Guðjónsson.

KR quickly responded, with Arnór Ingvi leveling the score in the 15th minute. However, ÍA regained the lead just a minute later with a goal from Ómar Björn Stefánsson. Luke Rae scored KR's second equalizer after a well-worked team move, bringing the score to 2-2 at halftime.

The second half saw KR take the lead for the first time in the 61st minute, courtesy of a header from captain Aron Sigurðarson. Rúnar Már Sigurjónsson equalized for ÍA with a direct corner kick, making it 3-3. Sigurðarson then put KR back in front with a well-taken shot from the penalty area. The victory was sealed by Eiður Gauti Sæbjörnsson, who scored on a counter-attack, assisted by Sigurðarson, to make the final score 5-3.

Aron Sigurðarson was instrumental in KR's win, contributing two goals and an assist, while ÍA's Gabríel Snær Gunnarsson hit the crossbar late in the game with a golden opportunity to equalize.
