KTX train stopped in Suncheon due to power failure; passengers rescued after 1 hour

A KTX train bound for Yongsan experienced a significant delay, leaving 127 passengers stranded for nearly two hours near Suncheon Station in South Korea. The disruption occurred on Tuesday evening when the train came to an abrupt halt on the tracks due to a power outage, reportedly caused by electrical sparks.

Passengers were confined to the train for 1 hour and 38 minutes before rescue operations commenced. Fire authorities were alerted and responded to the incident, eventually opening the train doors to allow the trapped passengers to disembark. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported among those on board.

While most passengers were able to board a replacement train to continue their journey, three individuals reported feeling unwell and received attention. The exact cause of the electrical malfunction and subsequent power outage is under investigation by the relevant authorities. The incident caused considerable inconvenience to the passengers, highlighting potential issues with rail infrastructure.
