Kursantbek Omurbekov appointed First Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan

Kursantbek Omurbekov has been appointed as the First Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, according to an order signed by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev. The appointment marks a significant step in Omurbekov's career within the nation's energy sector.

Omurbekov brings extensive experience to the role, having worked in the energy sector for about 20 years. His career progression includes roles from electrical fitter and shift supervisor to senior positions within the state energy supervision system. He is a graduate of the Iskhak Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University, where he earned a degree in power engineering in 2008. He furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree in management from the Zhusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University in 2024.

This is not Omurbekov's first time in a high-level energy position. In 2024, he already served as First Deputy Minister of Energy. Prior to this new appointment, he headed Electric Stations OJSC. The previous First Deputy Minister, Omurb Zhenishbekov, held the position for less than four months.
