Kuwait Aims for Fifth Place at Asian Junior Handball Championship

Kuwait's junior handball team has advanced to the fifth-place playoff at the 11th Asian Junior Handball Championship, hosted in Jordan. The team secured this position by defeating the host nation, Jordan, with a close score of 25-23 in a placement round match.

Kuwait's standout player, Abdulhadi Barak, was recognized as the Player of the Match for his exceptional performance in the victory over Jordan. He received his award from Jassem Al-Dhayab, the Technical Director of the Asian Handball Federation.

The win sets up a playoff match for fifth and sixth place against the winner of the Saudi Arabia-Uzbekistan game. This final match is scheduled for the championship's closing day.

Kuwait's journey in the tournament was marked by a quarter-final exit, where they lost 36-28 to South Korea. This defeat not only ended their chances of competing for the championship title but also eliminated their possibility of qualifying for the 2027 World Youth Handball Championship. Meanwhile, Bahrain, Qatar, Iran, and South Korea advanced to the semi-finals.
