Kuwait Customs Foil Attempt to Smuggle 43.5 Kilograms of Chewing Tobacco

Kuwait customs officers at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing stopped an attempt to bring about 43.5 kilograms of suspected chewing-tobacco derivatives into the country.

Inspectors grew suspicious of a vehicle entering Kuwait and carried out a detailed search. They found 61 bags containing the suspected material hidden inside the vehicle’s rear paneling, apparently to avoid detection.

Customs officials confiscated the seizure and filed an official report. After the required customs and legal procedures, authorities will refer the driver and the seized items to the relevant authorities.

The General Administration of Customs said the case formed part of its continuing efforts to tighten controls at Kuwait’s land crossings and prevent prohibited or restricted materials from entering the country. It said officers would remain vigilant and take firm action against attempts to violate Kuwait’s laws and regulations.
