Kuwait Declares August 27 Public Holiday for Prophet Muhammad's Birthday

Kuwait will observe a public holiday on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday (Mawlid Al-Nabawi).

According to the circular, all ministries, government departments, public authorities and institutions will be closed on Thursday, August 27, 2026, as an official holiday marking the occasion.

The announcement was made by Kuwait's Civil Service Commission through an official circular, following a decision by the Cabinet issued the previous day. This holiday marks the observance of Mawlid Al-Nabawi for the year 1448 AH.

As a result of the declaration, all ministries, government departments, public authorities, and institutions across Kuwait will cease operations for the day. Normal working hours are scheduled to resume on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
