Christopher Nolan's epic "The Odyssey" has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, solidifying its status as the director's most commercially successful film ever. In its fourth weekend, the Universal Pictures release added $31.5 million domestically, bringing its worldwide total to an impressive $1.1 billion. This achievement surpasses the box office performance of Nolan's previous hits, including "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Dark Knight."

Meanwhile, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is demonstrating a blistering pace, collecting $144.5 million domestically in its second weekend alone. The Sony-Marvel release has accrued a staggering $1.67 billion worldwide within just 10 days, positioning it among the all-time blockbuster giants. Domestically, it has grossed $655.1 million and has already surpassed $1 billion overseas, becoming the highest-grossing movie of the year in just seven days.

The success of "The Odyssey" has been particularly notable in IMAX, where it has become the highest-grossing domestic release of all time for the large-format screen company, earning $147.3 million. The film is set to open in China this Friday, potentially adding further to its impressive total.

Together, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" and "The Odyssey" are significantly boosting Hollywood's box office performance. Ticket sales are currently running 18.5% ahead of last year, marking the best box office year since the pandemic began. With five films already surpassing $1 billion this year, Hollywood is on track for a robust financial recovery, with summer theatrical revenue projected to reach $4 billion.
