Kuwait Floats Tender for Electrical Grid Operation Consultancy Services

Kuwait's Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has initiated a tender for consultancy services focused on the operation of the electrical grid within the Control and Monitoring Centers Sector. This move by the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy is designed to equip national personnel with the skills needed for operational and planning studies of the electrical grid.

Furthermore, the tender seeks to facilitate studies required by the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), thereby bolstering Kuwait's engagement in regional energy exchange operations. The ministry is committed to supporting the electricity transmission network and power station sectors by engaging consultants for specialized studies on protection systems in transmission stations and other aspects specific to power stations. These efforts are crucial for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the electrical system, especially during peak demand periods like the summer season.

In parallel, CAPT has approved a recommendation from the minister concerning a tender to upgrade data collection and analysis equipment for power generation plants and main substations. This upgrade is expected to improve the monitoring and management of the nation's energy infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, through its National Campaign for Energy and Water Conservation (‘Wafer’) and the Renewable Energy Department, participated in the Sustainable Living and Energy Efficiency in Buildings Exhibition. Organized by the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) for its employees from July 8-9, the ministry delivered an awareness lecture emphasizing the importance of conserving electricity and water. The presentation highlighted best practices and modern solutions for enhancing efficiency in both workplaces and homes. The ministry also showcased its ‘Wafer’ initiatives and various energy and water-saving technologies at the accompanying exhibition.
