Kuwait handball team begins Asian Games preparations in Slovenia

Kuwait's senior national handball team is in Slovenia for a crucial training camp and a series of friendly matches as it gears up for the Asian Games in Japan. The team's first test is against Austrian champions Jags, marking the start of a comprehensive preparation program.

Under the guidance of Icelandic head coach Aron Kristjansson and his assistant Haini, the squad is undergoing intensive training. The focus is on enhancing physical fitness, building team cohesion, and refining tactical systems for both offense and defense. Today's friendly serves as a vital opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate player progress and tactical understanding, identifying areas for improvement before subsequent matches.

The team is scheduled to play six more friendlies in Slovenia, aiming to reach peak performance for the Asian Games, which commence on August 19. They will return to Kuwait on August 13 to continue preparations before their journey to Japan. The coaching staff anticipates these matches will offer valuable experience against diverse handball styles and tactical approaches.

Meanwhile, Kuwait's junior national handball team concluded its friendly series against Bahrain with a close 23-22 loss. Both the senior and junior teams are using these matches to prepare for upcoming major championships, with the juniors set for the 11th Asian Junior Handball Championship in Jordan from August 20 to 31.
