Kuwait handball team begins final Asian Games countdown

Kuwait’s national handball team has completed its training camp in Slovenia as it prepares for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, later this month.

The Blues played friendly matches during a tournament in Slovenia and also tested themselves against league champion Celje, Istria, Gradis, Trimo Trebnje and Zagreb. They will return to training in Kuwait until next Wednesday, then travel to Japan for a final nine-day camp.

Coach Aron Kristjansson will use that final stage to refine the squad before the competition. Kuwait is in Group B with Bahrain, Iran, Kazakhstan and South Korea. Its campaign begins against Iran on Sept. 19, followed by South Korea two days later, Kazakhstan on Sept. 22 and Bahrain on Sept. 23.
