Kuwait’s folk soul takes on new beat

Kuwait City buzzed with cultural vibrancy as the Original Folk Arts Band presented a captivating musical evening at The Avenues Mall. The performance, part of the 18th Summer Cultural Festival, offered a rich tapestry of Kuwaiti folk and traditional arts, reflecting the nation's deep-rooted cultural heritage.

The Original Folk Arts Band is a recognized ensemble under the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters. Established in 2012 and officially acknowledged in 2022, the troupe is dedicated to performing diverse Kuwaiti folk art forms. Their repertoire includes traditional expressions such as Al-Ardha, maritime arts, Al-Sawt, Al-Samri, Al-Liwa, and Al-Tanboura, each offering a unique glimpse into the country's artistic traditions.

Under the leadership of Mubarak Al-Shatti, the band has actively participated in numerous cultural events both within Kuwait and internationally. Their ongoing efforts are focused on the crucial task of preserving Kuwaiti folk heritage. Furthermore, the band strives to deepen the understanding of this heritage among younger generations, encouraging their active participation in safeguarding the nation's cultural identity and ensuring its transmission to the future.
