Kuwaiti citizen arrested in Jleeb after alleged impaired driving, assault on officers and police-car damage

A Kuwaiti man in his 30s was detained at Jleeb Police Station after allegedly driving under the influence, resisting arrest and damaging a police patrol vehicle.

A patrol became suspicious of the way a four-wheel-drive vehicle was being driven in Jleeb. Officers stopped it and reportedly found the driver under the influence of an unidentified substance. His father and younger brother were also in the vehicle.

Police asked the man to hand the vehicle to his father and enter the patrol car. He allegedly insulted the officers and resisted arrest, forcing them to restrain him. While inside the patrol vehicle, he allegedly deliberately damaged it.

An investigator later inspected the car and confirmed the damage. Authorities took a sample to identify the substance involved and prepared to refer the man to the judiciary on allegations of impaired driving, insulting law-enforcement officers and damaging state property. The charges may carry imprisonment, vehicle impoundment and fines, including a possible fine of up to KD 2,000 for insulting officers.
