Kvaratskhelia named Champions League's best player

Paris Saint-Germain's Georgian forward, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, has been awarded the prestigious title of best player for the 2025/2026 Champions League season. The announcement was made by UEFA on Sunday, following PSG's second consecutive victory in Europe's premier club competition.

Kvaratskhelia, 25, was a pivotal figure in PSG's triumph, contributing significantly with 10 goals and six assists throughout the campaign. He succeeds his teammate Ousmane Dembélé as the recipient of the award. His standout performances included crucial goals in the knockout stages, such as a brace against Bayern Munich in the semi-finals and multiple goals against Chelsea and Liverpool in earlier rounds.

His exceptional form has positioned him as a strong candidate for the Ballon d'Or. However, his chances might be impacted by Georgia's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Kvaratskhelia, who joined PSG in January 2025 from Napoli, quickly became an essential part of coach Luis Enrique's squad, playing a key role on the left flank in their European conquests. He also scored in PSG's 2025 Champions League final victory against Inter Milan.
