Kwara CP unveils renovated police division, seeks improved service

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, has officially commissioned the renovated ‘C’ Division Police Station located in Oja-Oba, Ilorin. The renovation aims to provide a more functional and conducive environment for effective policing and service delivery.

During the inauguration, Adekimi urged the officers attached to the division to demonstrate greater professionalism and improve their service in line with the enhanced working conditions. He described the project as a testament to the positive impact of collaboration between the police and the public in upgrading security infrastructure. "The transformation of this facility is a demonstration of the importance of police-community partnership in strengthening security and enhancing policing infrastructure," Adekimi stated.

The event saw the presence of the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, represented by Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Prof. Usman Abubakar. Senior police officers, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders also attended, reinforcing the significance of community involvement.

Officers and men of this division must reciprocate the improved working environment through greater professionalism, discipline, responsiveness and respect for the fundamental rights of citizens, ensuring that the improved facility translates into better policing outcomes and service delivery.

Adekimi specifically commended the Divisional Police Officer, DSP Saliu Kayode, along with residents and supporters whose contributions facilitated the renovation. He stressed that community participation is vital for achieving effective policing and maintaining public trust in the Nigeria Police Force. The commissioner charged the officers to justify the investment through professionalism, discipline, and respect for citizens' rights, ensuring the improved facility leads to better policing outcomes.

DSP Kayode expressed gratitude to the police commissioner for the confidence placed in him and acknowledged the community's support throughout the renovation process. The ceremony also included the presentation of Police Ambassador Awards to individuals recognized for their contributions to the police force.
