Kwara fixes ₦5 million initial deposit for 2027 Hajj pilgrims

Intending pilgrims from Kwara State for the 2027 Hajj must now pay an initial deposit of ₦5 million, according to the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. The remaining balance of the Hajj fare is expected to be settled by the end of November 2026. This announcement comes as preparations for the 2027 Hajj operation have commenced.

Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, the Executive Secretary of the board, assured prospective pilgrims that efforts are underway to ensure a smooth, comfortable, and well-coordinated pilgrimage. He stated that the initial ₦5 million payment can be made upon presentation of valid international passports. Pilgrims are urged to make payments only through designated banks and channels and to submit all required documentation within the stipulated period. Passports expiring before April 2027 must be renewed promptly to avoid documentation challenges.

The board has also introduced improvements in its airlift arrangements. Previously, the official air carrier could transport about 260 pilgrims per trip, leading to a longer overall airlift period. The new arrangement increases the capacity to approximately 560 pilgrims per trip, reducing the number of required trips from about 15 to just four. Abdulkadir highlighted that this enhancement will shorten the airlift duration and contribute to a more efficient and convenient Hajj experience for Kwara pilgrims.
