Kwara fixes August 1 for common entrance exam

The Kwara State Government has announced that it will fully sponsor the Common Entrance Placement Examination for admission into Junior Secondary Schools across the state. The examination is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The government has declared that no registered pupil will be required to pay any fee for this exercise.

Peter Amogbonjaye, the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, issued a statement detailing the governor's approval. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq sanctioned the full sponsorship as part of his administration's commitment to expanding access to quality basic education for all children in Kwara State. The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, stated that the examination would be conducted simultaneously at accredited centers in all 16 local government areas, beginning at 8 am.

Olohungbebe explained that the governor's approval aims to remove financial barriers that might prevent children from accessing quality education. He stressed that the sponsorship aligns with the administration's dedication to ensuring every child in Kwara State has an equal opportunity for quality education. The commissioner also issued a stern warning to headteachers, principals, and examination officials against collecting any unauthorized fees, stating that violators would face disciplinary action.

Furthermore, candidates and school authorities were cautioned against engaging in any form of examination malpractice. The government is committed to maintaining a credible, transparent, and merit-based placement process. The ministry urged parents, guardians, and stakeholders to ensure all eligible pupils are registered and prepared for the August 1 examination.
