Kwara gov assures corps members of security, urges patriotism

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has pledged that members of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state will receive adequate security and a supportive environment throughout their service year.

I congratulate you on the successful completion of your academic pursuits. The National Youth Service Corps presents a unique opportunity for you to make meaningful contributions to national development. Patriotism should go beyond mere words.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, represented by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, Governor AbdulRazaq congratulated the corps members on completing their academic studies. He emphasized that the NYSC program offers a significant platform for them to contribute meaningfully to national development. The governor stressed that patriotism extends beyond words, urging the corps members to translate it into actions that positively impact society.

He highlighted the impactful community development projects undertaken by previous corps members in Kwara, citing examples like renovated classrooms, established ICT centers, and organized medical outreach programs. These initiatives, he noted, serve as enduring examples of selfless service and dedication to community betterment. Governor AbdulRazaq challenged the current batch to maximize their 12-month service by leaving lasting legacies in their host communities.

Genuine service is reflected in actions that positively transform society. I therefore challenge you to make the most of your 12-month service year by leaving lasting and meaningful legacies in your host communities.

Furthermore, the governor encouraged the corps members to fully engage with all aspects of the orientation program, particularly the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) initiative. He described the three-week orientation as a period for discipline, preparation, and personal transformation, equipping them with practical skills essential for their future careers. The Kwara State Government reiterated its commitment to providing a safe and enabling environment, urging corps members to adhere to security guidelines and cooperate with NYSC authorities for a rewarding experience.

The three-week orientation course is a period of discipline, preparation and personal transformation. Participate fully in all camp activities, especially the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, to equip yourselves with practical skills for the future.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Olaoluwa Joshua Onifade, reported that 1,496 corps members, including 703 males and 793 females, have been deployed for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I service year in Kwara State. The governor also commended the NYSC leadership for the successful commencement of the orientation exercise.
