Kyiv prepares for a grim scenario with food supplies and 25,000 hot meals

Kyiv is preparing food and drinking-water reserves for a difficult autumn and winter, including the possibility of prolonged power outages and other emergencies.

The city says the supplies will primarily support low-income residents and people facing severe hardship. They can also be used in resilience centers, provided to people affected by emergencies, and distributed to workers involved in urgent, rescue and other essential operations.

With support from charitable and civic organizations, Kyiv says it can organize hot meals for 25,000 people. The city also plans to acquire 20,000 additional food packages for use during emergencies.
