Kyiv Warehouse Explosion Kills 37 in Third Night of Aerial Assault

At least 37 people perished when a Russian drone struck a munitions warehouse in the Kyiv region, officials reported. The detonation caused significant damage to nearby infrastructure, including residential buildings and an elderly care facility, forcing the evacuation of over 370 residents from the village of Myla. The strike occurred during the third consecutive night of intense aerial attacks on the Ukrainian capital and its surrounding areas.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the incident, vowing to hold those responsible accountable. He highlighted existing regulations that prohibit storing ammunition near residential zones, stating that appropriate conclusions would be drawn. The high death toll marks one of the most significant single-incident losses in months and follows a similar explosion in Vyshneve last month that killed 10 people.

Russia has intensified its air war, employing advanced ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones that are difficult to intercept. Kyiv has been under "virtually non-stop attack" from high-speed drones for several days, with air raid sirens frequently sounding. In addition to the warehouse explosion, other overnight strikes across nine regions reportedly killed civilians, including a 14-year-old girl in the Boryspil district and a 2-year-old girl in Kyiv.

Ukrainian officials suggest these attacks may be part of a campaign to "paralyze" the capital. The repeated strikes and secondary explosions, like the one at the Myla warehouse, underscore the ongoing dangers faced by civilians and the challenges in protecting critical infrastructure and residential areas from sophisticated aerial assaults.
