KYMCO Launches RTS R 135 Scooter with Enhanced Electric Assist and Sharper Design

KYMCO has unveiled its new RTS R 135 scooter, building on the recent update of the RTS R 165. This latest model, featuring a 135cc engine, incorporates a newly designed exterior and an upgraded second-generation hybrid electric assist system. This technology aims to provide enhanced acceleration and better fuel economy, positioning the scooter as a competitive option in the sporty scooter segment.

The standout feature of the RTS R 135 is its second-generation Hybrid electric assist system, which utilizes an integrated ISG starter generator. This system offers performance assistance and quieter operation, with adjustable electric assist levels depending on throttle input. KYMCO claims the full throttle assist can reach 4.5 seconds, an improvement of 0.5 seconds over the previous generation, with a 12.5% increase in electric assist time and a 0.17-second reduction in acceleration response time.

Under the hood, the RTS R 135 is powered by a 134.2cc liquid-cooled, four-valve engine. Combined with a new CVT transmission, a sixth-generation Keihin fuel injection system, and the ISG silent start technology, the scooter maintains a maximum output of 14.2 horsepower, similar to its predecessor. However, improvements in acceleration and a slight increase in average fuel consumption to 46.9 km/L are anticipated.

Visually, the RTS R 135 adopts a sharper aesthetic, mirroring the RTS R 165's updated look with LED dual headlights, a three-dimensional front tie飾板, and red accents to emphasize its sporty character. It features a full-color LCD digital dashboard, USB Type-C fast charging, Bosch ABS, and TCS traction control. The scooter also maintains its reputation for agile handling, with a class-leading weight of 124 kg, a maximum lean angle of 45.6 degrees, and a short 1,290mm wheelbase, supported by a lightweight frame and large motorcycle-grade suspension.
