Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry Receives Up to 1,500 Citizen Appeals Daily

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Center for Processing Citizen Appeals is handling a significant volume of daily inquiries, with around 1,500 requests arriving each day from Kyrgyz citizens living abroad. According to Nurgazy Dzhumaliev, a third secretary in the consular department, the center operates around the clock.

Dzhumaliev explained that the majority of these requests, approximately 80%, are related to document processing. Citizens frequently inquire about procedures for registering a child's birth overseas, obtaining or replacing documents, and accessing various consular services. The center also receives reports of more serious situations, including missing persons abroad, detentions, and individuals facing issues with international travel.

These urgent cases are promptly forwarded to the relevant consular institutions for action. The ministry also highlighted that many procedures have been digitized. Through the "Electronic Consul" system, citizens can schedule appointments, view required documents and service fees, and prepare applications before visiting an embassy or consulate. Out of 33 services offered by Kyrgyz consular offices, four are now available online, including consular registration and applications for return certificates for those who have lost their passports abroad.

Dzhumaliev urged Kyrgyz citizens to register for consular services, emphasizing its importance during emergencies or when searching for missing individuals. The system stores residential addresses, contact information, and details of close relatives, which significantly speeds up the process of locating someone.
