Kyrgyz migrant child drowns in Russia's Leningrad region

A nine-year-old child of Kyrgyz migrants has drowned in Russia's Leningrad region. Nurmukhammed Alimbaev had been missing since August 5 and his body was discovered in Lake Tankovoye, approximately 3 kilometers from his home. The cause of death was drowning.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation's regional department has initiated a criminal case for causing death by negligence. The boy was reported missing on August 5. According to a friend of the mother, the family is described as well-off, with children who are well-cared for and attend kindergarten and school. The family has four children: two girls and two boys. The deceased child was the eldest and from his mother's first marriage.

The child's stepfather, who worked in construction, was recently deported to Kyrgyzstan. The mother works as a saleswoman. This is not the first time the child has gone missing; in June, he wandered off into the forest but was found quickly.
