Kyrgyz schoolchildren win medals at International Chemistry, Biology Olympiads

Kyrgyz schoolchildren have achieved success on the international stage, winning multiple medals at prestigious science Olympiads. Ermek Samatov, a 12th-grade student from AIM school, secured a bronze medal at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). The competition, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from July 10-19, 2026, gathered top school students globally to showcase their chemistry knowledge and practical skills.

The Kyrgyz team for the IChO was trained and led by Professors Tynchtyk Amatov, Elbrus Tazhibaev, Ivan Reshetnikov, and Maksatbek Kakhramanov. In parallel, Kyrgyz students also demonstrated strong performance at the 37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2026) in Vilnius, Lithuania, which ran from July 12-19. At the IBO, the nation's students clinched two bronze medals and one honorary diploma.

Atakhan Isiraev, an 11th-grader from the Kut Bilim educational complex, and Ulukbek Ruslanbekov, a 10th-grader from Seitek-STEM, both received bronze medals in biology. Irina Razvodovskaya, an 11th-grader at the Maarif educational institution, earned an honorary diploma. The national biology team was guided by Dayan Melisov and Baktynur Azhibaev.
