Kyrgyzstan agrees with Russia on monthly fuel supplies

Kyrgyzstan has secured a crucial agreement with Russia for the monthly supply of 100,000 tons of fuel and lubricants, a deal set to remain in effect until the end of 2026. This arrangement aims to ensure a stable energy supply for the Central Asian nation.

First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Daniyar Amangeldiev, announced that the agreement has been finalized and Kyrgyzstan will procure the fuel at prevailing exchange prices. This development follows earlier reports of a Kyrgyz delegation holding talks in Russia specifically focused on securing these vital energy resources.

The agreement is particularly significant given Russia's recent actions to stabilize its domestic fuel market. Moscow has extended its ban on gasoline exports until January 31, 2027, and on diesel fuel exports until September 2026. These measures, while aimed at ensuring domestic supply, could have impacted fuel availability for importing countries.

By securing this bilateral agreement, Kyrgyzstan appears to have preempted potential supply disruptions and ensured a consistent flow of essential fuels. The terms of the deal, including the purchase at exchange prices, suggest a market-based approach to the transaction, while the volume guarantees a substantial amount for Kyrgyzstan's needs through the end of 2026.
