Kyrgyzstan election body seeks candidates for reserve commission roles

The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced a call for applications to fill reserve positions in 25 territorial election commissions (TECs). This initiative aims to bolster the operational capacity of electoral bodies across various regions.

Vacancies are open in TECs located in Batken, Kyzyl-Kiya, Kadamdzhai, Bazar-Korgon, Nooken, Mailuu-Suu, Tash-Kömür, Naryn city, Naryn, Jumgal, Ak-Talaa, Alay, Chon-Alay, Aravan, Kara-Kulja, Talas city, Talas, Bakai-Ata, Aytmatov, Manas, Kant, Sokuluk, Moscow, and Panfilov districts. Both political parties and representative bodies of local self-government, known as local keneshes, are eligible to nominate candidates for these reserve roles.

Eligibility criteria are strict, as defined by law. Individuals cannot serve if they are deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) or local keneshes, government or local self-government officials, judges, law enforcement officers, fiscal body employees, or military personnel. Furthermore, candidates cannot be party representatives, hold citizenship of another country, have an unexpunged criminal record, or be spouses or close relatives of current commission members serving on the same commission.

Political parties must submit their candidate documents directly to the Central Election Commission by 6:00 PM on August 25, 2026. Citizens and public associations are required to submit their applications to the respective local keneshes by the same deadline. Subsequently, local keneshes will hold sessions to review and forward approved lists to the Central Election Commission. The necessary documents include a statement of consent to work in the TEC, a commitment to abide by the law, a copy of a passport, a resume or personal employment record detailing education and work history, contact information, consent for personal data processing, and a nomination protocol from the nominating entity. The commission also reminds applicants that they should generally reside in the territory of the relevant locality. Sample documents are available on the official commission website.
