Kyrgyzstan Has Made a Worthy Journey from Founding to Development, Tokayev Says

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Kyrgyzstan had made a worthy journey from the establishment of statehood to development in a message marking the country's Independence Day.

Tokayev said Aug. 31 represented the Kyrgyz people's aspirations for freedom, sovereignty and independence. Over the past 35 years, he said, Kyrgyzstan had strengthened its state institutions, preserved its spiritual heritage and improved its position on the international stage.

He pointed to Kyrgyzstan's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2027 and 2028 as evidence of its growing international authority. Tokayev also highlighted reforms aimed at economic growth and improving living standards.

The Kazakh president described relations between the two countries as genuinely fraternal, rooted in centuries-old traditions of friendship and good neighborliness. He said Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were building on mutual trust and solidarity while developing strategic partnerships and alliances.

Tokayev expressed confidence that bilateral ties would continue to strengthen and contribute to the prosperity of both countries and Central Asia. He wished Japarov continued success in public life and the Kyrgyz people prosperity and progress.
