Kyrgyzstan Military Personnel Can Now Get Housing Anywhere in Country

President Sadyr Japarov has modified a state housing program, expanding eligibility for military and law enforcement personnel to receive apartments. The amendment to the "My Home" state housing program, originally approved in 2024, now permits service members to apply for housing irrespective of their current duty station.

This significant change addresses a long-standing issue for personnel who are often transferred to different regions throughout their careers. Previously, service members were restricted to obtaining housing only in the specific locality where they were serving. This limitation posed difficulties for those with families or long-term plans, as frequent relocations made it challenging to secure stable housing.

Lawmakers had previously advocated for revising the program's rules, highlighting the transient nature of military and law enforcement careers. The updated decree allows these individuals to participate in the housing program as long as they meet all other established criteria and follow the correct application procedures. This adjustment is expected to provide greater housing security and stability for those serving the country.
