Kyrgyzstan receives over 120,000 smart meters for Bishkek and Osh

Kyrgyzstan is advancing its energy infrastructure with the recent delivery of a significant batch of smart meters to Bishkek and Osh. The Ministry of Energy reported that nearly 78,000 smart meters arrived in the capital, Bishkek, while the southern city of Osh received approximately 43,000 units. This delivery also included around 2,000 devices specifically designed for transmitting electricity consumption data.

These new meters are part of a larger project that plans to supply a total of 390,000 smart meters throughout Kyrgyzstan. The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Energy and receives crucial financial backing from the World Bank. The equipment will be distributed to regional power distribution companies and subsequently installed at consumer premises.

The introduction of the Automated Electricity Control and Metering System is expected to bring substantial improvements to the country's electricity network. The system is designed to enable the collection of electricity consumption data in real time, allowing for quicker detection of faults and a reduction in overall grid losses. This modernization effort is a key step in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the nation's power supply.
