Kyrgyzstan Security Forces Neutralize ISIS, Katiba al-Tauhid wal-Jihad Members in Special Operation

Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (GKNB) successfully executed a special operation to neutralize active members of international terrorist organizations, specifically "Katiba al-Tauhid wal-Jihad" and the "Islamic State."

The operation, directed in real-time by GKNB Chairman Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov from the situation center, aimed to thwart planned terrorist attacks targeting law enforcement officers and religious leaders. Anti-terrorism operation regimes were imposed in the cities of Osh and Kyzyl-Kiya, as well as in the Kara-Suu district and the village of Uch-Korgon in the Kadamjay district.

Personnel from various agencies, including the police, Border Service, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Health, presidential representatives in the regions, and the mayor of Osh, participated in the coordinated effort. The operation resulted in the detention of 31 suspects: 11 in Osh Oblast and 20 in Batken Oblast.

During searches, authorities discovered religious extremist literature, electronic media containing extremist materials, four unregistered firearms, symbols of terrorist organizations, and funds intended for financing international terrorist underground networks. GKNB Chairman Shabdanbekov has instructed officials to ensure public safety, investigate the detainees' connections, and identify potential accomplices and funding channels.
