Kyrgyzstan sees major surge in car imports, China leads supply

Kyrgyzstan has experienced a significant increase in passenger car imports during the first six months of 2026, with a 36.5 percent rise compared to the same period in 2025. A total of 78,375 vehicles, valued at over $680 million, were imported into the country, according to data from the National Statistical Committee.

China has emerged as the dominant source for these vehicles, supplying 38,688 cars. This represents a substantial 2.6-fold increase in imports from China. Other significant suppliers include South Korea (25,765 vehicles), the United States (4,332), Japan (2,333), Germany (1,900), and Russia (1,410).

In June alone, Kyrgyzstan imported 13,837 passenger cars. China accounted for the largest share of these imports, providing 8,055 vehicles, which constituted 58.2 percent of the total for that month.

The trend of increased vehicle imports extends to trucks and motorcycles as well. In the first half of 2026, Kyrgyzstan imported 13,097 trucks, a 10.7 percent increase, primarily from South Korea and China. Motorcycle imports also rose by 22.4 percent to 17,707 units, with China being the leading supplier.
