Kyrgyzstan Sees Week of Government Appointments

Kyrgyzstan saw a flurry of government appointments and dismissals between August 24 and 28, affecting key ministries and national sports teams.

Nurbek Bukuev has been appointed as the new Deputy Minister of Health, taking over from Bakytbek Kadyraliev, who had held the position for approximately eight months. Bukuev, a doctor of medical sciences with 21 years of experience, previously led the National Center of Oncology and Hematology in Bishkek. He is also an associate professor and has authored over 20 scientific publications, earning him the title "Excellent Healthcare Worker of the Kyrgyz Republic."

In urban development, Aman Turgunaliev was appointed deputy director of the Department of Urban Development and Architecture under the Ministry of Construction. He previously served as the head of the Moscow District Department of Urban Development and Architecture. This follows the early July appointment of Tilek Kydykeyev as the director of the State Department of Architectural and Construction Control.

The national football team also has a new head coach, Urmat Abdukaimov, who replaces Robert Prosinečki. The Kyrgyzstan Football Union and Prosinečki mutually agreed to end their cooperation. Abdukaimov, who holds an 'A' coaching license from the Asian Football Confederation, previously managed the Kyrgyzstan U-23 Olympic team and the top-league club "Talant." His immediate task is to prepare the team for upcoming international tournaments, including the 2027 Asian Cup.

Further changes include Gulnur Dzhaynakova's appointment as rector of Issyk-Kul State University, replacing Professor Askarbek Imanbaev. Dzhaynakova, a candidate of agricultural sciences, holds degrees in agronomy, economics, and management. She previously served as deputy minister of education and science, overseeing professional and higher education.

Additionally, Talant Akim uulu was appointed first deputy mayor of Manas city, succeeding Colonel Damirbek Davlyanov. Akim uulu, an economist, previously headed the Suzak District Department of the Kyrgyz Social Fund. Emil Soronbekov has become the mayor of Baza-Korgon city.
